Shelter Island Town In New York

Shelter Island town in the eastern part of Long Island in the U.S. state of New York. It forms the tip of Suffolk County and is separated from the rest of the county water. 2228 Population Census of 2000.
Shelter Island is located between North and South Forks of Long Island. The island is surrounded on three sides Shelter Island Sound.The island is around 8,000 acres (32 km²) in size.
