World Trade Organization ruled today that the billions of dollars in European subsidies provided to Airbus launch aid to develop its commercial aircraft is illegal.
U.S. first complained to the WTO six years ago that a low or zero interest loans to Airbus by governments, including Spain, Germany and Britain since 1970 to develop the plane and research, violated competition rules.
WTO upheld the complaint and considered that the financing of the current development of A380 Airbus' must now be reorganized.
The European Commission within 60 days to appeal today's decision, but not announced whether it will do it.
