Google Image Search started to look a little different Tuesday:Internet search giant has launched a new type of ad format that will allow advertisers to include a thumbnail image along with text ads that appear in the pictures Google.
The new format is called image search ads appear only on Google Images for the moment, but Ben Ling, director of Google's search products, said the company will explore the adoption of a format for other products, including search engine company.
New ads are the latest in a series of moves in Mountain View, Calif.-based Google to squeeze out extra profits from various Internet products. The company said it expected the new ads command a premium of simple search ads, which are now available on Google Images, but they refused to provide additional information.
