Bill Cowher Faced A Very Bad Tragedy Yesterday His Wife Kaye Cowher Died:Very sad news from Ed Bouchette of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette Kaye Cowher , wife of ex-Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Bill Cowher, lost her battle with skin cancer and died Friday in North Carolina at the age of 54.

Ms. Cowher was a native of North Carolina - Cowhers met while visiting North Carolina in 1976 - and Cowhers moved there after Bill retired from coaching in January 2007.

Services will be held on Monday.
Ms. Cowher played basketball at North Carolina State, and one of the first women in her native country to get a sports scholarship, in accordance with Bouchette. Later, she played women's professional basketball league before the league folded in 1981. Then she married her husband, who played for the Cleveland Brown. Cowhers '3 daughters, Megan, Lauren and Lindsay were all basketball players, referring to the strong influence of his mother - and grandmother. Their father initially did not want to play, but it was abolished in the mother, Mrs. Cowher.

Kay Young was born in Bunn, NC, she met with Bill Cowher at NC State in 1976, where he was football player, and she and her twin sister Faye played women's basketball. They married in 1981.
Kaye Cowher played a key role in her husband's escape from coaching in 2007 and move full-time in Raleigh, so the family can be together as their daughter had completed their high school and college career in basketball.

Kaye Cowher, the wife of former football coach Bill Cowher Steelers, died Friday in his native North Carolina after losing a battle with skin cancer. She was 54.

Cowhers moved to Raleigh, North Carolina, in 2006, the final season, Mr. Cowher to coaching Steelers, and continued to do it at home.

Cowhers met when they studied at the University of North Carolina in 1976. Mr. Cowher was the football team, and Ms. Cowher, the former Kay Young, and her twin sister, Faye, played basketball.

Tall at 5-foot-11, Ms. Cowher appears in the power game, making it one of the first young women in her native country, to get college athletic scholarship.
