Kaye Cowher played a key role in her husband's escape from coaching in 2007 and move full-time in Raleigh, so the family can be together as their daughter had completed their high school and college career in basketball.
Megan, Lauren, and Lindsay Cowher all followed the footsteps of their mothers in the division college basketball. Megan and Lauren played together at Princeton, while Lindsay is currently playing at Wofford.
Kaye Cowher and her sister led NC State basketball title of the Atlantic Coast Conference first women in 1978. In addition, they appeared in commercial Doublemint gum Wrigley's. Kaye Cowher played one season in New York and two stars from the New Jersey Gems in the women's professional basketball league before the league folded in 1981.
The family requested privacy and has released no information on the death of Cowher. Services will be held in North Carolina on Monday, the report said.
