SAN FRANCISCO (KGO) - Out of the Earth music festival, which attracted more than 100,000 people last year, will hit the Golden Gate Park on Saturday. Activities in polo park was reduced to 2-day event, but it is still expected to attract a big crowd and create traffic headaches.
"I grabbed my place already, and I sat without moving, until Monday," Richmond district resident Wanda Lee Marshall said.
Thursday, Marshall parked her car in front of his home district of Richmond, and this is where he will stay. Outside the Earth begins Saturday in the nearby polo grounds. Some holidays are expected 50000 people will try to find parking in their neighborhood, so she had to share it claims.
Henry Arnold lived near the polo grounds for 33 years. Like most locals, ACB7 said parking issue, but the music and movement is not very worried.
"It does not bother me, but it's a little inconvenient when you can not get through the park," Arnold said.
The event was attended by more than 100,000 people in the past 2 years. Groups such as Kings Of Leon and Furthur, is expected to do the same huge crowds this weekend, although the event has now been reduced to two days instead of three as last year.
"It was really just having a higher level of talent that we thought would be that this event was, therefore, we would like to maintain that level," Rick Farman of Superfly Productions said.
Tickets $ 75. No food or drinks are allowed on the basis of polo, but will not be food for sale from 40 local restaurants and wines from 25 wineries. Organizers say the event is making $ 1 million in cash strapped city recreation and parks budget, and creates a financial magnet for the city.
Outside the Earth's producers say the event, which attracts people from all over the country, and these people will spend about $ 30 million in San Francisco for 2 days.
Promoter Allen Scott says the city should not contribute a penny for this event.
"We pay for all city services, cleaning, additional Mooney, this kind of thing," Scott said.
