Residents Prosecution Fisher Cats Lost Pets Complete Report:Boston:The number of families, Metrowest report that their family pets were threatened at an alarming rate, and other animals are raising the dead, as some believe, a fisherman cats are to blame.

"Signs all over the world. 'Lost dogs. Family despair. Please help. But you knew that they would not return," professional dog walker Debi Whitcomb said.

Fisherman cats were seen more often in residential areas. Whitcomb, who clients in Dover, Natick, Needham, Wellesley and Wayland said that many of them saw the animals.

"I've seen them creeping along, you know, the edge of the yards of people in their territory, in Wellesley. I had one client who said they went to their dogs on the deck was a fisherman and a cat walking on the railing," said Whitcomb .

It was broad daylight. Last year, Dover resident Ribeiro Linda lost two cats and a dog. She said she saw a fisher cat the size of a coffee table two weeks ago.

"Almost looked like the snake, the sea or something. The head and then it came up short legs front and back go up and arch, and then this long tail, which stuck in the air," she says.

Ribeiro said homeowners should be cautious.

"Just try to protect the animals. Keep an eye on them. I would like to protect small children, too. I mean, what, what I saw was big and scary," said Ribeiro.

Wildlife officials said the Metrowest days worrying only about the coyotes away, because the population of fisher cat, which was once on the brink of extinction in this area has rebounded. The animals are part of the family of animals, which includes the weasel, mink, otters and skunks. They can be installed in any day or night, but usually seen at dawn and dusk.

Massachusetts Division
of Wildlife said Fisher Cats' form of domestic cats and rabbits as food and prey on them when hunting. It also says to keep animals and birds, rabbits, security, and remove trash, litter, compost and animal feed, which can attract fisherman cats.
