Ten Years Later, Elian Gonzalez Talks About His Life In Cuba

Photos moved on the wires yesterday of Elian Gonzalez, now 16, attending a celebration of the tenth anniversary of his return from Miami. Gonzalez sat next to Cuban President Raul Castro during the ceremony held at a Havana church.

Gonzalez as the subject of one of the most famous photos of the 1990s. The Pulitzer Prize winning photo by AP's Alan Diaz showed armed federal agents seizing young Elain from the home of his Miami relatives.


An Associated Press story reports that Gonzalez "says he's not angry at his Miami relatives who fought to keep him in the United States during a nasty international custody battle a decade ago, and is thankful" a large part of the American public "supported him being reunited with his father in Cuba. "
