2010 St Barth Book Festival

Organisers Association St. B'Art, the fifth edition of St Barth Book Festival on April 12 to 20, 2010. The four authors of the invited guests this year, including Alex Godard, writer and illustrator of Marie-Galante, known primarily for his excellent work for children, "Mama DLO, and Bruno Gazzotti, creator of the comic, known for his series" SODA.
Both authors have visited the island during the school week. In fact, based on the success of the program-school last year there were more than 25 events in various classes this year (from writing workshops to study the texts). On Saturday morning, April 17, Bruno has also Gazzotti comics workshop, open to the public at Espace Météo.
Other festival guests included Géraldine Danon and her husband, a sailor, Philippe Poupon, who presented their new book "Flowers in Ice: the history of the family to go to the intersection of the famous mythical Northwest Passage," which tells the story of their trip aboard the Arctic in the footsteps of great travelers.
A couple and their four children, Lou, Nina, Laura, and Marion in age from 12 to nine months, went on a winter morning in 2008 aboard the 'Southern Fleur,' boat conceived and developed by Poupon.

They went on a long journey that took them from the coast of Africa to the West Indies, and then they headed north, as far as the gateway to the Arctic in order to meet its goal: to sail from the Atlantic to the Pacific via a path through the ice, which is open only through the weeks a year. Known as the Northwest Passage, a dangerous crossing, between icebergs and ice floes, and other hazards are not always on the characters in this region.
There is also a fierce currents and the threat that the ice field will seal the passage, which makes this an extreme experience of winter ... Eight months of navigation and adventures in the land of the Eskimos, polar bears and the eternal ice under the midnight sun. Presentations on Saturday evening concluded with a video of Abu their experiences.

At Sunday, April 18 from 9 am-12 pm, the event was extended to the waterfront du General de Gaulle, with the annual free exchange of books, autograph books guest authors, as well as awards for both adults and young writers competition. Additional guests were forced to cancel his trip because of problems related to air travel caused by the volcanic eruption in Iceland: a writer and journalist Patrick Poivre d'Arvor, and pianist Jean-Philippe Collard, who were to present avant premiere of their work relationship of music and reading in honor of the composer Frederic Chopin on April 20.
