Offspring maverick independent filmmaker and actor John Cassavetes and actor Gena Rowlands, Cassavetes decided to take acting seriously after being wounded himself during a sporting scholarship at Syracuse University. Previously, he played youth in his father's acclaimed "Woman under the influence" (1974), but made his first film As adults in a small part in Peter Bogdanovich, a well-received "The Mask" (1985).
Support to the string after the memorable films, including the fast-paced actioner "under the gun", and amusing, if not entirely successful adventure saga "Blind Fury" (both 1989). He participated in several other descendants of Hollywood adventures "Young Commandos" (1991), and then starred in the erotic thriller in March, "Sins of Desire", "Body Effect" and "Sins of the night", all made in 1993, it quickly disappeared.
Cassavetes was thrown into the role of the award-winning playwright and screenwriter Robert E. Sherwood in "Mrs. Parker and the vicious circle" (1994), to director Alan Rudolph on art and intellect, which was the famous Algonquin Round Table 1920.
In 1996, Cassavetes left behind the camera to helm a lot of enthusiasm "Release the stars", the drama of the growing relationship between two different women, which his mother, Marissa Tomei. Its efforts soph, "She's So Lovely" (1,997), premiered at the Cannes Film Festival. With the unproduced script of his father, film tells of a woman caught between her presnt happily married state, and its past, represented by her first husband. Co-starring real wife Robin Wright and Sean Penn and featuring John Travolta, the drama received Best Actor Award at Cannes Penn.

It was well gathered thriller with an intriguing social message in its essence, but not spark major critical or commercial fires. His next film, however, proved to be his best and most unusual - the work to date: with and effectively sentimental "Notebook" (2004), based on the bestseller by Nicholas Sparks novel, stars crossed summer romance-and long-reaching repurcussions - between South spunky debutante (Rachel McAdams in her breakthrough performance) and the poor, but charming small town man (Ryan Gosling).
Working with screenwriter Jeremy Leven, Cassavantes briskly restructuring worn novel 2-complicated part of the plot with a hint of mystery, one of which focuses on young lovers in 1940, and the other depicting an old version of the heroine (played well Cassavetes's mother, Gina Rowlands) and the one who stuck with her (James Garner). 3-hanky movie in the best sense of the experession, "Notebook" demonstrated a new level of excellence for Cassavetes, like cinema and the actors.
